Job Duties, including but not limited to:

  • Ensure prescription directions for use, dose, medication interactions, therapeutic duplications or overlaps, allergy information, age specific dosage, and other pertinent data are appropriate for individual patients. intervention with providers shall be made for noted discrepancy of above listed items.
  • Provide medication and healthcare related in-service training to clinical staff on new medications on the market; appropriate use of medications; comparison of current medication therapies; and other topics as deemed appropriate by the leadership.
  • Ensure prescription directions for use, dose, medication interactions, therapeutic duplications or overlaps, allergy information, age specific dosage, and other pertinent data are appropriate for individual patients. intervention with providers shall be made for noted discrepancy of above listed items.
  • Compound medications as required.
  • Provide medication information and medication therapy guidelines to the clinical staff as required.
  • This position will need to be an instructor at the NCRPI’s Annual Pain Care Skills Training, which may occur outside of the National Capital Region and will be up to three (3) full days.
  • Monitor Pain Medications and discuss in conjunction with Pain Specialist Physicians Consult with the physicians and the Interdisciplinary Team to establish a written plan of care at intervals specified in the plan.
  • Perform necessary administrative duties that include maintaining statistical records of clinical workload operate and manipulate automated systems such as Composite Health Care System (CHCS)/Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), and participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions, as prescribed by the Commander.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  Completion of the following:

  • Doctoral degree in Pharmacy from a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
  • Successfully completed a Residency in Pharmacy or equivalent.

Experience:  Candidates must have the following experience:

  • At least one year of experience as a Pharmacist is required.
  • Have completed one year of experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Have a minimum of one year of experience in teaching residents, patients, student Registered Nurses, or medical students within the last three years.

Security:

  • National Background
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work site

 License/Certification and Training:

  • Valid unrestricted Pharmacy license in at least one state, territory or commonwealth of the United States.
  • Hold and maintain current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Shall have current National Provider Identifier (NPI)

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday between 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM (8-9 hr days; 40 hours per week)
  • Excludes federal holidays
