Job Duties, including but not limited to:
Evaluate and treat emergent, urgent and non-emergent patients. Workload is a result of scheduled appointments, walk-ins to the clinic from other departments, walk-ins for specific diagnoses, telephone calls and consult requests. Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
Shall provide inpatient care. This will include new patients when consults are requested by the admitting health care team. The Orthopedic surgeon must be able to perform unsupervised and be able to supervise house staff performing Orthopedic procedures.
Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
Shall see new patient consults and established follow-up clinic visits and respond to telephone consults
Education: Completion of the following:
Graduate with Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an approved school of medicine or osteopathy. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained.
Successful completion of a residency program in General Surgery which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association and acceptable to the Surgeon General of the USAF.</li>
Successful completion of an internship or fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association and acceptable to the Surgeon General of the USAF.
National Background and Credit Investigation
Must be U.S. Citizen
Must have reliable transportation to and from work site
Shall have been employed in the practice of General Orthopedics or in training for 24 of the last 36 months.
License/Certification and Training:
Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any US state or territory
Currently certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons or American Board of Physician Specialties and maintain certification throughout employment
Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) and current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) in accordance with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Full Time; 40 hours per week
Monday to Friday between hours of 6:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Requires On-Call and work on federal holidays
